Installation guide

Add a tool to your website in three steps: choose a tool and try it, make it yours, then sign in, enter your website address and paste one block of code into your page. No DNS record, file or meta tag is needed.

Script or iframe

Every widget has two kinds of installation code. Both identify your saved widget and nothing else.

  • Script code (recommended). A small container and the loader from https://www.toolsdocks.com/embed/v1.js. The tool adjusts its height to its content, and several widgets can share one page. Add the script once per page.
  • Iframe code. For platforms that allow an iframe or HTML block but not scripts. It has a fixed height of 640 pixels because a plain iframe cannot resize to its content. The tool scrolls inside the frame when it needs more room.
<div data-toolsdocks-widget="YOUR_WIDGET_ID"></div>
<script async src="https://www.toolsdocks.com/embed/v1.js"></script>

This is an example. The dashboard shows the code with your real widget ID. The code never contains your plan, prices, ad settings or account details, so changing the code cannot change what your plan includes.

Your website address

Enter the address where visitors will use the tool, for example example.com. It is saved to your account and the code works there right away. There is no DNS record, file or meta tag to add. Use the tool on a website you run or are allowed to edit.

Websites must use HTTPS. You can correct the address later with Edit address on the Website page: your tools, usage and plan stay the same, and the old address stops working.

Allowed addresses

A tool can only be shown on the registered address of its website. Browsers refuse to show it anywhere else, so copied code does not work on other websites. The address with and without www. are both included automatically. Other subdomains, staging and preview addresses are separate websites.

Monthly allowances

A use is one successful run, such as one merged PDF. Opening the tool, changing settings, failed runs and downloading the same result again are not counted. Allowances apply to each tool on each website and reset on the first day of every month at 00:00 UTC.

  • Starter: 1,000 uses per tool a month.
  • Pro: 7,000 uses per tool a month.
  • Business: unlimited browser-based uses.

When a tool reaches its allowance, the widget tells visitors it has reached its monthly limit and starts working again next month or after an upgrade. You can follow usage in the dashboard, and its activity list notes when a tool reaches 80 and 100 percent.

Content Security Policy

Most websites do not need to change anything. If your website sends a Content-Security-Policy header, allow the loader script and the widget frame from https://www.toolsdocks.com:

script-src ... https://www.toolsdocks.com;
frame-src ... https://www.toolsdocks.com;

The Iframe code only needs frame-src. Keep your existing sources where the example shows three dots.

Platform guides

Website builders differ in what code they allow. Some only allow an iframe or an HTML block, and some remove scripts on certain plans. The plain HTML setup is tested by us end to end. The other guides follow each platform's own embed feature.
